Tap into your inner dancer this fall with a beginner tap class! Whether you are brand new to the world of tap or want to brush up on past skills, you will have a wonderful time stepping out in style. While enjoying a glass of wine, we will focus on basic tap skills, delve into the rich and diverse history of tap and some of its pioneer dancers, try out some new classic time steps and even learn some approachable choreography. Come make some noise with us! “Life is short and there will always be dirty dishes, so let’s dance.” -James Howe *Participants should dress comfortably and bring tap shoes (see suggestions below).

Nicole Crew, a Wisconsin native, started dancing at age three to her record player in the living room. Trained in all dance styles, tap dancing has her heart; and teaching tap to all ages is her personal joy. She graduated with a degree in Dance and Education from Hope College in Holland, Michigan and has taught dance in Chicago, Florida, Milwaukee, and Cedarburg. Although a Cedarburg resident for a decade, she and her husband Eric now reside in the Richfield area with their three children, where kitchen dance parties happen often.
SHOES
As a general rule, the most comfortable and best-sounding tap shoes are an oxford-style lace up tap shoe. Like all things, these can range vastly in price from $30 to hundreds of dollars. For beginner work, a basic tap shoe will absolutely give you the sounds and comfort you want. See the links below for some affordable options. If you’re not interested in investing in tap shoes right now, dig in your closet for that clicky-tappity pair of dress shoes you already own that make noise when you walk down the street. They will work! And if you have character shoes, those work as well!
