MOSAICS
CREATIVE MOSAIC WORKSHOP-OPEN STUDIO

Thursday Evenings beginning June 5 / 7-9:30 pm / $15 per session

 

Award-winning artist and member of The Society of American Mosaic Artists, Leann Wooten joins our staff to bring the art of mosaic to the Cedarburg Cultural Center. In these open workshops, Leann will cover all of the techniques of cutting tile and glass, understanding terminology, the use of correct adhesives on various substrates, sealing and grouting. Students will receive hand-outs covering basic resources and materials to prepare them for future mosaic projects. No art mosaic experience necessary! Supply list available. Bring your projects along each week and work under the supervision of Leann!!

"BEYOND STICK PEOPLE" - The Basics of Drawing

Award-winning artist Claudette Lee is back for this “no pressure” exploration of beginning drawing with charcoal, pencil and pastels. Learn the basics of perspective, layout, shading and much more in this class to get you started in the world of 2-D art. Fee includes use of drawing supplies. Students must bring sketchbook.

INTRODUCTION TO PASTELS
Thursdays / October 23, 30 November 6, 13 /1-3 pm / 8 hours
If you are used to painting in wet mediums like oils and acrylics then you should give pastels a try. They are a refreshing and enjoyable approach to creating art. This class will introduce you to the various pastel mediums that are available as well as touch on pastel painting and drawing techniques that you can incorporate into your next work of art.

INTRODUCTION TO OIL PAINTING
Thursdays / September 26, October 3, 10, 24 / 10-Noon / 8 hours
Best known as the medium of the Masters, oil paints have long been revered as one of the most challenging materials to control. Not anymore! Claudette Lee will teach students of all skill levels how to make oil paints work with you, not against you. Learn the art of composition, color blending, choosing and using supplies and techniques unique to the use of oils.

BEGINNING ACRYLIC PAINTING
Wednesdays / September 3, 10, 17, 24 / 6:30-8:30 pm / 8 hours
Claudette Lee is again offering her popular four-part series in the techniques of painting with acrylics. Students will learn the basics of blending, shading, mixing and adding materials to acrylic paints to add dimension as well as the basics of good artistic composition. Supply list.

INTERMEDIATE PAINTING and DRAWING - OPEN STUDIO
Every Thursday / 6:30-8:30 pm / 2 hours per session
Okay...you've gone home after our beginning classes and now what?? Come back for our open studio where you can work at your own pace in a relaxed atmosphere with an experienced teacher at your side to help you over those creative hurdles! Move beyond the basic techniques of painting with Claudette in these 2-hour sessions geared for artists with some art experience. Work in your medium of choice for these classes which include personal attention and critiques. Students must bring their own art supplies.
Fee: $15 per 2-hour session-payable in advance or on the night of the class to instructor

Robert’s first series of classes is intended for beginners to serious amateurs. Class will be an open workshop with instruction and hands-on activities, yet designed around the needs and questions of the class. ADVANCED DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY - including Photoshop Editing

Robert continues with his series of digital photography classes at the Center with a more advanced look into digital photography and computer edited photos. This series will be built around the needs of the student’s with more of any emphasis on fine tuning your work in Adobe Photoshop and getting more from your camera.

DIGITAL COLLAGE with PHOTOSHOP-Advanced Techniques

This hands-on advanced Adobe Photoshop class is designed for the collage artist who wants to experience the creative side of Photoshop. Instruction will be at individual computer stations and cover scanning techniques, digital photo sizes, common tools, tips and tricks of Photoshop production. Students will also work with creative filters and layer blending modes. Hand-painted/illustrative techniques applied to photographs, merging multiple photos, scanned sketches and found images into a composition. This college level class requires students to have a basic working knowledge of Photoshop. Supply list.

JOY OF PHOTOGRAPHY - PHOTO COMPOSITION WORKSHOP
John is an award-winning PBS photo journalist who has won over 300 awards for photos taken all over the world..
John Alley returns for a series of in-depth classes to teach photographers of all skill levels the art of composing great photos. John will teach you how to look at the world a little differently through a camera lens. Learn to get the most from your camera, critique good and bad photos, explore the art of composition and experience the joy of photography as a hobby. Class size is limited. Students need to bring and be familiar with their own camera.

VIDEO WORKSHOPS
INTRODUCTION TO VIDEO AND VIDEO EDITING

Students will learn how to correctly expose and capture footage with their own video camera they bring to class. Instruction will be given regarding importing footage into a PC using Adobe Premiere Elements. Students will be taught how to edit, add text, or sound files to their videos. Burning the project onto a DVD playable by a standard home player will be the final step in the process. Limited seating, register early! Supply list available.
